Sleeping Pattern for growing gracefully through old age!

By Elsie Hagley of Cagora

I am a married woman (50 Years) and still sleep in a double bed.Sleeping Patterns do not change because my husband and I are in our seventy's

Our hours of sleep 10.30pm to 7.00am, seven day's a week, and just because we are older does not mean that we sleep well either, there are night's we toss and turn,
because our life is still very busy and demanding, old age does not mean that we have no problems in our life, age makes no difference, but we need quality sleep for good health, which we have been blessed with so far.

A good night's sleep benefits us for our moods, memory and concentration, especially more so as we grow gracefully through old age.
Being exhausted after a stressful day on the farm, with bad weather and stock problem, our relaxation is a glass of red wine every night, about five pm before tea, never drink
after tea as that interferes with your ability to fall asleep, and just end up having fragmented sleep.
We very seldom come down with a cold or flue, putting that down to the glass of red wine, good sleeping habits and healthy living with lots of exercise.

My Husband has always been a cat napper, sits down, out like a light, but still sleeps most nights.
I am different, never sleep during the day, my relaxation during the day is my computer and a game of spider solitaire (cards), the hard one not the easy one, which keeps my brain working, as it relaxes my body.

When I go to bed my body knows it is time to sleep, as I never go to bed with a problem on my mind, it is always sorted first, or if I have a phone call which is going to stop me sleeping, and I do not need to do anything about it before the next day, I just block it out, next morning I will start sorting it out, it other words never go to bed with thought's that are going to stop you from sleeping.

Sleep is essential to our immune system, Without adequate sleep, the immune system becomes weak, and our body becomes more vulnerable to infection and disease, so have a good sleeping pattern,so you can grow gracefully through old age, and watch your children and grandchildren grow,
and prosper, taking on the challenges in this busy fast paced society of life we have these days.

I don't have trouble sleeping, just getting to bed. I've always been a nighthawk. I teasingly used to tell mum that it was because I was born at midnight.

You wrote a great intel. I have done one on sleep also. It is not published yet. Please watch for it.

I look forward to reading more intels from you.
